Barcelona 2012

Recently ventured upon an expedition with fellow intrepid skateboarders Alex Pasquini, Jamie King and Jonny Bairstow, to see if Barcelona was any good for skateboarding. Video avec

Lewes Bonfire 2012

Against many warnings of over-crowding, long queues and closed roads, we went to Lewes for bonfire night, to celebrate the 5th of November by watching lots of people in fancy dress walk the streets with torches and bangers. And smoke, lots of smoke.

Bicycles of Brighton

I've been wanting to get a project bike for ages, and after a couple of rad bike rides on my crusty old mountain bike, and inspired by seeing my sister's beautiful single speed again, I finally bought myself a vintage Viscount 5 speed racing bike :D I reckon it's from around the early 1970's and it appears to have mostly original parts, but on a straight, smooth road it flies as fast as a fucking proton beam round the Large Hadron Collider. Too much fun! It's become a mild obsession and I've been perving over all the old bikes I've been seeing round Brighton.

Barcelona... Round 4!

There's not much left to be said about Barcelona. Like a trusty village bike, she's accommodated almost every skateboarder I know, and many more that I don't. She's been in all the magazines, all the skate tours. Yeah, she's cheap and easy, drunk and a bit smelly, and I can't help but wonder if she was abused as a child. But though I'd probably never commit my life to her, and I'd think twice before introducing her to me mam, I can't help going back from time to time for another go. She's as beautiful as ever, and I know it's guaranteed to be fun. She'll always hold a special place in my heart. At the end of last summer, she once again welcomed me back with open arms, cheap beer, sunny blue skies, and like always, plenty of skateboarding.

And if you haven't yet seen the video, you can catch it here

My Spanish is a little rusty, but I'm pretty sure this guy was flirting with a woman hanging her washing out of a third floor balcony. I think he was trying to get her to come out and play!

Brighton Pier

Borrowed a Nikon D50 from Finn O'Connell / Tom Mussett a little while ago, took it down to a quiet Brighton Pier for a spin...

This was insane. There must have been hundreds of birds (sparrows?) sitting on this rollercoaster, making a proper racket, all chirping away. For no apparent reason, they all suddenly stopped, fell silent and flew over my head. The contrast in noise from the chirping to the almost silent flutter of wings was bizarre.
